Brands I Love
There are a ton of yoga and lifestyle products out there, and believe me I've tried a bunch. Here are some of the brands that I've found to stand out for both quality and ethics!
Inner Fire Leggings
I loved the fit and feel of Inner Fire from the first pair I tried. When I learned more about the company, I discovered there was even more to love. Their leggings are made in Canada, from recycled water bottles, and they donate a portion of their profits to The School Fund. It's a bonus that they have an amazing selection of colorful prints! I'm grateful to be one of their amazing luminaries. Check them out on Instagram @myinnerfire and shop their line on their website or on Amazon (and use code SaschaCr for a discount)!
There are so many options for yoga apparel out there, sometimes it's really hard to choose - and do you really want to? Wouldn't you rather try a bunch of brands in outfits that were styled specifically for you and your exercise needs and style preferences? Well that's what YogaClub is! YogaClub is a subscription box that delivers you new athletic apparel at a discounted price once a month. When you sign up, you fill out a style survey and then each month an outfit (either 1, 2, or 3 pieces, depending on your subscription) is sent to you! Don't love it? Easily exchange it for something you love. What would make a good thing even better? How about giving back to a good cause? For every box delivered, YogaClub provides a yoga and meditation class to an elementary school kid in Los Angeles' most vulnerable neighborhoods.

Malas With Love
I was lucky enough to get a mala from Malas With Love as a gift for my birthday and fell completely in love. It has become my favorite mala for use during meditation, my asana practice, as well as to wear as a necklace or bracelet. Each mala is handmade and created by two amazing yogis locally in San Diego, which is awesome because supporting small local business is something I really strive to do. You can see their beautiful malas on their Instagram @malaswithlove and shop for your perfect match on their website. Use code PHDYOGI15 for a discount!
Pi Yoga Pants
I met Larissa, the founder of Pi Yoga Pants, at a local San Diego yoga event in 2016 and immediately fell in love with her pants. They're lightweight and super soft making the comfortable for yoga (especially outdoors) as well as lounging around the house. I bought a pair on the spot and pretty much didn't take them off for a week straight afterwards. Besides being a local small business, 10% of the profits from Pi Yoga Pants go to sea turtle conservation! Great pants, great cause - a winning combo. You can check out their pants on their Instagram @piyogapants and shop for them on their website. Use code piyogapants.0137 for a discount!
I've had the privilege of trying out a variety of mats over the years and I'm definitely pretty picky when it comes to where I put down my palms in downdog. Soul Obsession mats are like a mat and towel in one. The microfiber top is soft on your hands but keep your hands in place even when sweating, while the soft top still allows for the freedom of movement to slide your toes from chaturanga to updog. They are committed to eco-friendly production and their various collections give back to global environmental causes. Did I mention their prints are incredible?!? You can find them on Instagram @soulobsessionyoga and shop their mats here.
As an academic, I spend a ton of time on the computer or standing teaching. And as a person living in the 21st century, I spend way too much time hunched over my phone. All this plus usual life stress means that I have aches and pains in my back that need some self-care. I absolutely LOVE the Pranamat. I use it under my feet while typing on the computer, and lie on it at the end of a long day. It gets the blood circulating in my sore muscles and provides some serious relief. You can find them on Instagram @pranamat and shop their products here. Use code PHDYOGI for 10% off!
Blue Ridge Hemp Co.
Between days at the computer and a regular yoga practice, I have aches and pains in my muscles and joints from time to time. They have taken Industrial Hemp derived CBD and combined it with other ethically and sustainably sourced Terpene rich botanicals to form products that allow all people to harness the healing power of Cannabis.
